| | Keyboard rig and equipmentMartin uses a selection of keyboards according to the size and nature
of the function. He says ”I like to be able to have a selection
of sounds at my fingertips and the easiest way to do this is to have 3
or sometimes 4 keyboards on stage. Because we change the order of numbers quickly and on the fly, its not
really possible to pre-programme a keyboard with all the sound changes
for a set, so I find it better to have certain sounds on certain keyboards
and then change to extra sounds as I need them. If space allows, I use a Korg digital stage piano for all the piano
and electric piano sounds, and then share the strings, brass, sax, organ
and synth sounds between the 3 other keyboards. Some songs need several
sound changes and I often play one keyboard and set up new sounds on another
so that there is no break in the music. For Quartz, Martin favours the stage set up listed below but also uses
a variety of other devices including Korg iS 40; Roland XP80; General music real piano module; Casio AX1 remote
keyboard; Yamaha VL70M; Korg DVP1 Vocoder”
