Spud's collection of bass guitars

Spud's guitar collection is extremely unque as apart from a 1963 pre-CBS Fender Precision all the others were totally hand build (except for the pickups, pots and knobs) by Spud's very talented father Alf.

Alf was an engineer and also a drummer. He made the guitars out of bits of old table legs and odd bits of metal. He couldnt afford a drum kit so he made one for himself. He used to go to music shops and measure kits when nobody was looking. He also made a set of Bongos out of some rare metal which was used to build the Concorde (he worked for British Aerospace at Filton) and also a double tambourine

One of the Bass Guitars is a 3 string version which Spud thinks should have been a 5 string as Alf got a little confused when five string basses first appeared!
