Arrive Thira, Santorini 08:00 -Tender
to shore- Depart 18:00
Thira is the capital of Santorini (overlooking the cruise ships in the
lagoon), is accessed via a steep pathway up 600 foot cliffs or by the aerial tram
The Port of Thira at the bottom of the cliffs where the tender boats
dock
Cruise ships anchored in the Lagoon of Thira
Santorini is made up of 4 main islands which sit on the rim of an
extinct flooded volcano
Beautiful blue domed churches decorate the white-washed town of Oia
Windmills feature in Thira
Higgledy-piggledy dwellings, restaurants and swimming pools adorn the
tops of the steep cliffs
The aerial tram (six cars of 4 passengers) carry 600 cruise ship
passengers an hour up to Thira - €7.00 each way.
Sometimes there can be
quite a wait
so it might be better to do a ship excursion which may skip the queues
Dinner at a restaurant in Oia overlooking the amazing sunset is quite an
experience.
Unfortunately we visit close to mid-summer's day so the sunset
would be around 9:00pm and our ship leaves Santorini at 6:00pm
