Chris Robinson 1950 - 2011

On the morning of June 26 2011, Chris lost his valiant fight for life. He had cancer and it took him away from us astonishingly quickly. We ran Onyx for 11 years and performed at many pubs, weddings and functions. Chris's last gig was at The Plough at Shalbourne with Uptown Traffic and although he was feeling ill, I know he enjoyed playing the gig. What ever Chris did to pursue his passion for music, Chris always put everything he had into it and entertained the masses.

His legacy is that he made so many people happy and his discos were legendary.

Onyx's History

After playing with Chris Robinson in Uptown Traffic during 1974 and 1975, Chris and I frequently got back together to play in various bands, depping and filling in for other musos. In 2000 we decided to put together a duo playing many of the great songs from the 1960s and 1970s.

Throwing ourselves into our new project headlong, we made quite an impression with our regular gigs in the pubs around Newbury and district. Chris's high vocals blended extremely well with my harmonies - especially when aided by the Digitech VHM-5 harmonizer. Live guitars and vocals were supported by high quality backing tracks prepared in the Dysongs Studio.
