In 1991, I left The Chordets and the core players of the band (Martin Dixon, Spud Cox, Keith Guster and Martin Lawrie) all left with me.

We formed Quartz which is my current band.

We decided from the outset that the band should not only be strong on its musicianship and entertainment, but that it should be visually dynamic and use the very latest musical technolgies. To that effect over the years we deployed
an extensive array of equipment including a special effects lighting rig, special pyrotechnic effects, lasers, sampling, a midi guitar, a vocal harmoniser, electronic drum pads, and a vocoder. With a new 1500 watt PA, mixers, foldbacks, in-ear monitoring, radio mics the investment hit over £40,000

Quartz was the band I had always wanted to be in, and it seemed that we were the band everyone wanted to book.

Between 1991 and 1998 we played every gig imaginable - weddings, civic balls, on board a boat at Henley Regatta, radio stations, residencies, corporates, clubs, bars and pubs, holiday camps and outside events. and even a few impromtu performances whilst holidaying abroad.

We also did a demo album featuring some of the songs which we played live on stage
